Capture the Van introduces a new game mode to GTA2, based on 'Capture the flag'. The goal is to steal the minivan which drives through the map, and crush it at your car crusher. Naturally, the other players try to do the same thing, and the original owner of the car would also like to have his car back. When the car is destroyed (in a crusher or otherwise), a new car spawns at the middle of the map. You'll be rewarded with $15, 000.= each time the car is crushed at your crusher.
Gameplay
To play Capture the Van, you'll have to create a points game. You can determine which amount of points is needed to win the game, but remember the reward for each crushed car is $15, 000.=: 7.5 times as much as killing an opponent. This reward is so large to ensure killing opponents isn't enough to win the game.
If you're not sure which amount of points to choose, you can set it to 999, 999 and let the player with the most points at the end of the game win.
Every player starts at his or her own crusher, which can be recognised by the color of the gang. Gangs only attack players with another color and their respect will never change. Don't start fighting other gangs; you will lose.
The big purple arrow always points to the van. If you manage to steal it, you'll have to bring it to your crusher. No arrows point the crusher, but the crashers can be found easily: the green crusher is located in the west of the map, red in the east, yellow in the south and blue in the north.
Installation
Place all files (except the readme and map) in the 'data'-folder of GTA2. This map replaces the original e.gxt file (English text), but this does not effect the original maps. Even so, it is wise to create a back-up of the original e.gxt. Capture the Van should be played in the English language setting and is not compatible with other mods which change e.gxt.
When you have placed all files in data, you can select "Capture the Van" or "Crusher" in the multiplayer manager. Remember: each player has to install Capture the Van to play it!
Capture the van can be played with 1, 2, 3 or 4 players, in both dawn and dusk. You can also play a normal game with this map by selecting "Crusher". |
